Cheers to a Dreamy New Year!
Recipe and image via Liquor.com.
Can you believe tomorrow is the first day of 2011?! I have a good feeling about this one and am excited to get it started. How about you? Any predictions or resolutions for the new year? As for me, I plan to work harder, save money, stop procrastinating, read better books and watch better movies. All pretty doable I think!
We know everyone will be toasting tonight with lots of bubbly so we'd love to share these very sexy champagne cocktails with you, which we found over on Huffington Post. The one pictured above, The Lanesborough, is a twist on the classic Mimosa so you can even enjoy it at your New Years Brunch.
The Lanesborough
Ingredients:
.66 oz Grand Marnier
.66 oz Cranberry juice
.66 oz Passion fruit juice or puree
2 oz Moet Champagne
Garnish: Orange spiral twist
Glass: Flute
Preparation: Add Grand Marnier, cranberry juice, passion fruit juice or puree to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled champagne flute. Top with Moet Champagne and garnish with an orange spiral twist.
Hope everyone has a wonderful time tonight and a happy new year!
P.S. Check out one of the best New Years movies ever, 200 Cigarettes. ♥

Not sure if you've heard, but the Northeast has been pummeled by a crazy snow storm (Oops. I forgot to bring in my BBQ Grill!). All this snow talk got me thinking about a favorite Northeast sport: skiing! I'm itching to rent a cozy cabin and ski (maybe Hunter Mountain?). In preparation, I have done some investigative research (thanks, Google) for some cute photo-worthy ski outfits. Enjoy! :)
Best Dressed Celebrities 2010

And since we're on the topic of celebs we love, did you hear the sweet news on Natalie Portman? :)

(Photos via We Heart It and our friend Owen)
Lovely DOPT readers, it's time to say goodbye until next year! This wee little blog is turning 6 months old, and we wanted to say thank you SO much for stopping by! It's been so much fun to share with you what inspires us, and we look forward to another year of sharing, and getting to know you more!
We'll be at our parents house for Christmas here in NYC, watching Christmas Vacation and Home Alone for the zillionth time (yay!), and enjoying our Mom's amazing cooking. What are your plans? Heading back to your old bedrooms? :) Or is family coming to you? We will have a few scheduled posts for next week in case you wanna stop by, but we'll be back to our usual posting in the new year.
Have a wonderful holiday + happy new year!

Salty Sweet: Pumpkin and Feta Muffins
(Images via 101Cookbooks)
Holidays are a hard time to kick a sweet tooth habit. Oh, and a salty tooth habit. That's why I'm going to indulge in every moment of the holiday festivities and make sure I get all the temptation out of my system. This pumpkin and feta muffin recipe, the perfect salty-sweet combo (my fave), oughta do the trick! :)

Dreamy Dame: Sofia Coppola

In anticipation of seeing Somewhere this weekend, today's Dreamy Dame is the lovely Sofia Coppola. As directors and producers ourselves, my sisters and I have been slightly obsessed with Sofia since we first saw Virgin Suicides. She embodies everything we admire in women: style, grace, talent and creativity. Yes, she grew up privileged and yes, making "independent" films are probably not so hard when you're Francis Ford Coppola's daughter, but we don't care! Her films still resonate with us because she's able to tell stories about characters that are relatable, imperfect and fairly honest. With the exception of Marie Antoinette which was more stylized, I really love her minimal approach to just letting a story unfold on it's own. Her directing is refreshing because I often feel like we're just a fly on the wall watching the actors in the film become their characters and letting their story just happen. It doesn't feel planned or over thought.
I believe it just opened, but have any of you seen Somewhere yet? I'm really looking forward to it.
Read an interview with Sofia where she talks about the process of making the movie, here.

Sexy Swimwear
Do you, sweet peeps, have any upcoming winter travel plans? The hubs + I are hoping to get away for a few days in February just not sure where yet. But my new criteria may be anywhere where I could possibly wear something from this ooh la la collection . :)

Have A Dreamy Weekend!
I've returned from my Portland/Seattle trip, and I'm happy to report that both cities are as charming and cool as I thought they would be! Aside from the annoyance of weather delays, once we got into each city, we immediately fell in love with the landscape, and believe it or not, the rainy weather (it felt cozy :)) All in all, two great cities worth seeing.

We had fun with our Hipstamatic app. :)

Santa baby...
Last week, Karina posted a great gift guide. But let's face it, the holidays aren't just about giving, they're about receiving too! :) So here are a few of my favorite things... (From top left:)
A great boot to get me through the winter in style.
A pug to warm my heart when Alex is away on business trips. (Darn, I wish our apartment was bigger or this cutie would be mine!)
A nautical t-shirt because I could wear a striped shirt every day. (Actually, I already do. :)
Mast Brothers Chocolates. Because I'm a sucker for great packaging + dark chocolate. ♥
Le Labo Candle. To feel fancy on special occasions or on any occasion!
Food & Wine Magazine subscription for endless inspiration in the kitchen.
An IPad. So I can download cool apps like the Martha Stewart Makes Cookies app.
Aviators. Always classic. (And I lost my cheap ones at Art Basel.)
Essie Nail Polish in Lollipop. To feel feminine all year round. xo
Downtown Skating
How cool is that? The downtown W Hotel in New York has just installed an ice skating rink... next to their bar. So after a few rounds around the "cozy" rink (only 12 by 40!), you can warm up inside with some hot toddy's or chocolate martini's. :)

Sweet Spot: Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates
And my chocolate obsession continues with these Marcie Blaine artisanal chocolates. Don't they look yum, yum, yum?
Hmm... I think in my next life I want to be a Chocolatier. And I'd get to go to Chocolate School. :)

Bar Necklace
I'm loving this simple bar necklace by Lolabean. I first saw her pretty jewelry last week, when walking through the Union Square Holiday Market. I fell in love with so many of her delicate pieces that I've been browsing her website ever since. If you live in the city, I definitely recommend stopping by. xo
Hip Hotel: UXUA Casa Hotel, Trancoso, Brazil
Since it is now officially fah-reezing here in NYC (hello, 20's!), I thought we'd put the hot chocolate down this morning, and take a little imaginary trip to hot and tropical Brazil. How gorgeous is this hotel in Trancoso? Aren't those canopy beds dreamy? Escape: UXUA Casa Hotel
Taste of Heaven: Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip
(Image & video via Food Wishes)
Ever since I tried the artichoke dip at Freemans Restaurant, I have been on a desperate search to find a recipe similar to the famous side dish (Freemans recipe is top secret and word on the street is they ask their employees to sign confidentiality agreements so they don't spill the goods!). But I recently came across this equally tasty looking recipe on Food Wishes, which looks just as good as the restaurant original. And it has a video to make sure the cooking process goes as seamless as possible for the best finished product. Delish!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped green onion, white and light green parts only
2 cloves garlic, very finely minced
1 package (10 ounce) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained, squeezed dry
1 can (14 ounce) artichoke hearts, drained, roughly chopped
8 ounces cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
very small pinch of nutmeg
salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
1/2 cup grated gruyere cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, preferably Parmigiano Reggiano
1/4 cup mozzarella, shredded
Keller NY Debuts Spring/Summer '11 Collection
A few months ago, Karina and I had the pleasure of working with the very talented Celia Rowlson-Hall on a video we made for the fashion designer, Alexandra Grecco. We immediately knew that Celia was not only gorgeous and a great dancer and choreographer, but also incredibly intelligent, smart and creative. So as a director herself, it's no surprise that her latest video for Keller NY is all of that and more.
If you haven't already heard of Keller NY, definitely check out their site here. The best looking booties ever! Add to wish list.
Have a dreamy weekend!

It's Friday! In honor of our wedding anniversary, Alex and I are going out to dinner and a movie this weekend. We're seeing Black Swan. Probably not the most romantic film, but it looks so good! What are your plans?
Wishing everyone a restful + cozy weekend!

Our 1 year wedding anniversary
A year ago, this Sunday, my husband, Alejandro, and I got married at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, surrounded by our closest friends and family. It was truly the most magical day of my life. Here are a few photos, I want to share, from our special day. xo
P.S. Mama + Papa Cifuentes celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this past Monday. Congrats, Mom + Dad!

A special note to my Alex: Thank you for being the best husband, and loving me for being me. Whether I'm being silly or moody or chewing caramel popcorn too loud during movies (sorry, its so crunchy!) or wearing my "saggy butt jeans" -- You love me just the same. And I love you. Even though you sometimes steal my extra pillow while I'm asleep. And weekly stain our white shag rug with hot sauce. I feel incredibly, incredibly blessed to have you as my man. Hot sauce stains and all. Te amo muchisimo, Mrs. Big Head xoxoxo
