Fall Vibes

New York is really showing off its fall vibes this week, with some cloudy skies, rain and an overall chill in the air. Maybe it's because the season is really just starting, or has been somewhat mild, but I'm really feeling it. So yesterday I gathered all my seasonal veggies and made this roast, as seen above. It's mostly just butternut squash, beets, multicolored carrots and red onion tossed with a healthy serving of olive oil, pepper and pink himalayan salt. It's time consuming to peel and chop all the veggies, but the results are worth it. Plus, I like catching up on my podcasts while I cook.

Speaking of podcasts, I have become obsessed with SERIAL, from the producers of This American Life. Have you guys heard it yet? I highly recommend.

Well, it's Friday so hooray for that. Any fun plans this weekend? I have some craft projects I want to work on and then brunch with an old friend. Kinda low key and nothing major planned, which sounds pretty nice. How about you?

Hello, lovelies! Did this week feel really long to everyone, despite the holiday on Monday, or is it just me? I'm glad it's finally the weekend! Although I'll be working a bit, I'm really looking forward to finding the time to bike to the park and catch up on some reading. A friend recently introduced me to this author, Etgar Karet, after we saw his movie Jellyfish. I loved the film, and am now reading The Girl on the Fridge, a collection of funny and quirky short stories. Perfect for reading under the sun! I so wish I could be this girl in the photo above.

Now that the weather is getting warmer, the weeks seem to be flying by. Does anyone else feel that way? Well, it's Friday again and that can only mean one thing. Time for some fun, rest and relaxation. I, for one, will be working most of the weekend, but on my free time, I am going to make this for a good hearty breakfast, and maybe try to catch this movie, which looks pretty funny.

Finally Friday, hallelujah! As I mentioned earlier this week, New York has had some really nice weather lately, but today it's a little chilly again. Truth be told, I am still kind of into it. Of course I'm excited for spring, but given the mild winter we've had, I am still appreciating the cloudy skies, the excuse to drink hot toddies, and curling up in bed Netflixing a movie (this is what I can't wait to see.) I also didn't wear tights enough this winter, so I feel like I need to do that soon before it's too late.

In addition to lounging in bed watching movies this weekend, I am also working at a new job (come visit if you're in NY) and possibly finishing a paint job I started a few weeks ago. Sometimes I am more productive than I pretend to be.

On another note, it's Friday! I'm trying to catch up on all the Oscar flicks, so I'm going to see The Descendants tonight and hope it's as good as everyone's saying it is. Have you seen it yet?

The rest of the weekend, I'll probably lay low and maybe attempt to make this. Slightly ambitious, but I'm sorta feeling it. My co-workers on Monday might just be a lucky bunch.

It' Friday! This weekend is going to be great. But I'm especially excited about Superbowl Sunday. For those who don't know, in addition to working with my seesters on exciting projects, I also work in advertising. So Sunday is a big day for the ad world. I love watching what crazy commercials will be aired, even though a few have already leaked, including this awesome spot feat. After the Wedding's very own Nick Puga. Go, Nick! Oh, and can't wait for the half-time show. :)

Happy fin de semana, everyone! I am sure you are as happy as I am that the weekend is finally here. I thought I'd start today's post off with this amazing footage of starlings. Have you seen it? Blows my mind every time. So magical!

What are your plans for the weekend? I may go to this awesome hidden treasure tomorrow, which I'm pretty excited about. And there seems to be a lot of holiday parties, which will be a good opportunity to see all my friends before they go home for the holidays next weekend. The funny thing about living in New York and having our parents here also, is that we're usually the only ones not to leave the city during this time. New York is definitely a transplant city.

Finally Friday! I, for one, could not be more excited. It has been a long week! This weekend will be nice because I'm planning to do some home improvements with Karina and work a bit with Claudia on our little side project. And also... my month of sobriety is over! For those of you who didn't know, I was challenging myself to a Sober September and I'm proud to say I made it without one drop of alcohol. I have a lot to say about this, which I think will be a more dedicated post next week because I really do want to share my experience with you.

Hello lovelies! It's Friday, finally. Any great plans for the weekend? I just bought myself a voucher over on Gilt City (my new obsession!) for one month of unlimited yoga at Yoga Vida. Now let me be clear here, I am definitely not a yogi. I have done it many times, but have never stuck with it consistently. My favorite workouts are definitely more cardio based, such as spinning and kickboxing. However, since I left my last job last year, with it went my discounted gym rate. So for the past year, I have to admit that I have not had any real exercise outside of walking back and forth to work everyday (give me some credit here, in total it's four miles back and forth!) But to be honest, it's definitely taken it's toll on me.

So because I was getting a great deal on Gilt City, I figured I would give yoga another shot. And I also think it's a great time to do it now because did I mention I am not drinking this month? I'm calling it Sober September and let me tell ya - nine days in and I am surprisingly doing awesome. The first weekend was the absolute worst because it was Labor Day weekend and there was a ton of stuff going on, including the fact that one of my bff's was in town from LA. But after managing to be on good behavior that weekend, it's all downhill from here. The perks of not drinking? My sleep is much better, and my wallet is feeling good. So in the spirit of cleansing, I am really excited about picking up yoga this month. Any tips for a yoga newbie?

Alright, I know you must still be recuperating from celebrating Cinco de Mayo last night, but don't forget it's Kentucky Derby weekend and Mother's Day! We probably won't be doing anything for the Derby, but we are definitely celebrating our mama on Sunday. Our lovely and super talented friend Celia Rowlson-Hall was recently featured over on the Urban Outfitters blog and she looks absolutely stunning! Celia was the leading lady in the Alexandra Grecco video that Karina directed a few months ago (which you can see here if you haven't already) and if couldn't already tell by that, this is one lady to keep your eye on. Not only does she dance and choreograph, she is also a model (obviously, with those looks!) and a filmmaker herself. Celia's short film Prom Night just debuted at SXSW to wonderful reviews and we can't wait to see what else she has in store. You can see more of Celia's work here.
