As we continue to fundraise for our film, After the Wedding, we're very excited to feature our fourth couple today as part of our 'Secrets to a Happy Marriage" series. We met Rachel and Darren several years ago and they are, by far, one of the most fun couples we know. Read on to hear what they have to say about happy relationships.
Tell us how you met.
We met at Pianos, a bar in the Lower East side. He was in a comedy show that night and approached a table of my friends and me after the show. We talked for a while, and he invited me out soon after; that was the beginning.
How did you propose?
Darren proposed at the waterfront park in Williamsburg brooklyn. He tricked me (one of his favorite pastimes) into thinking we were looking at a new apt and were waiting, in a rare day of snow in March, for a realtor. Then he surprised me on one knee and had two of our friends jump out of the bushes with cameras to capture the moment.
Do you have any favorite stories from your marriage or about your husband/wife?
There are too many! As I said, one of his favorite pastimes is tricking me. So I guess a reoccurring story would be April Fools Day in our house. He has saran-wrapped the toilet a few times, to no avail, one time using postage stamps to secure the sides. One year, he spent a good 20 minutes in the bathroom, which was suspicious to begin with, and came out with red stained hands, which was also suspicious. Needless to say, the next time I went to the shower it rained red kool aid.
What's your secret to a happy marriage and what advice would you give to a newlywed?
Making each other laugh, and empathy...those are key.
See more of Rachel and Darren's beautiful wedding photos here. And please remember to make your pledge for our film here. As we are in the last few days, every dollar helps and we really need our fellow bloggers support! Did we mention that the fundraiser is all-or-nothing? Thanks for visiting.

Um, they are one ridiculously cute couple. *smile*
Their chin to chin photos are super cute. LAUGHTER is key, I agree!
What a nice and happy couple! You are a sweet couple and I so love it.
You really made me inspired.
